Default Side trim removal

I am wanting to remove that chrome/painted piece of trim that runs down both sides of my truck and am curious what is the best way to do it. I've heard of using fishing line but didn't know if there is an easier way Side trim removal-photo25.jpg

Heavy fishing line is probably your best bet. The foam tape is aggressive, then you have the residue to deal with. There's commercial adhesive removers available. Goof off, paint thinner, kerosene works too but slower and messier. The hotter the day the better for the removal.

my son took his off with a heat gun and fishing line

he used a rubber wheel on a drill to clean off the residue.

I think it looked better with them on, I can still see where they were.

Damn I'm going to have to remember the fishing line thing. I removed the one behind the door to work on the body, with a heat gun alone and plastic pry bars. Then re-installed it. I'll remember the fishing line thing now lol. Yea , think they look much better with them on. Hate to see what my doors would look like if I removed them.

I don't mind them but mine are all faded and peeling so time to take them off. I plan on clay bar, buff and polish the whole truck afterwards so I shouldn't be able to tell

If your paint has faded you'll see the difference. But you can always put new one
