Default shocks

I have recently purchased a 2001 XLT my first and I am looking for recommendations for shocks with better bounce and rebound control than OEM. What would you recommend and your experiences?

I Should also add I have a 2 wheel drive with no mods, and I don't go off road. I know that a shock is a compromise. I understand the need to keep a shock within the parameters of the spring rate. All that being said what I am looking for is a shock that will keep the tire force constant to the road over most conditions.

just put a set of Rancho RS5000s on my truck and love em. Bilsteins are another good choice, both are very close in price. I want to say when i priced shocks the Bilsteins were maybe $75 more.

nice, i got mine on sale as well (the rears atleast) lol. i paid $175 for all 4. my rear shocks were $37 each, the fronts were $50. i also bought a rancho steering stabilizer and stabilizer install kit for $95 from Amazon. Amazon has the best prices on auto parts, better than anywhere else ive looked. not to mention they dont charge tax and i get free two day shipping.

**** i need an inner tie rod, oreillys wants $55-$60 for it with a discount. Amazon has one on sale for $27 right now...and its MOOG.
