Default Shift Kit for 4R70?

I debating on installing a shift kit when I change my transmission fluid. Is this a good idea on a 03 4r70w with 130xxx? The transmission functions fine driving or just towing just want a little firmer shifts (not neck snapping). I've read a shift kit can prolong the life of your trans when not driven too hard. I've also heard transgo kits have caused issues with our trucks so if its a good idea what brand? My local tranny shop said its a bad idea but I'm really easy on my truck and won't using for racing around.

These guys make a good kit you can install yourself. You can tailor each shift to your liking. http://www.becontrols.com/aode.htm

do not buy any shift kit for a 4r70w. go to tccoa.com and look at technical articles, transmission, jerry mod That article is wrote by the man who designed the 4r70w, it will use all ford parts and as for the valve body just invovles drilling out some seperator plate holes.

Ive heard the jmod is only for the 4r70w car transmission and should not be done on trucks

what differance would that make, the j-mod is a factory engineered shift kit, it's entirely possible that most of the j-mod specs are included in the new transmissions as that was what jerry designed it to be from the start. it just took them a number of years to finally incorporate all of his original design specs

I've read it doesn't handle truck duties like hauling and towing.. how difficult would it be for novice mechanic to attempt

I have a mild shift kit n my 4x4. It's a 5.4 and when it's wet out ill spin the tires thru 2nd and up to like 65 mph! Kinda cool but wasteful. But i got the truck with it and I have 130k miles and I was told it does prolong the tranny and I drive super easy an slow until I wanna burn some rubber. I deff like the kit
