Unhappy Secret Fire???

Hello ford men, I just bought a 2002 F-150 5.4 4x4 Auto super cab. It seems I didn't get the full story on this truck and perhaps I jumped on it a bit fast when I found it for sale. Well something about spilled milk and no whiners allowed, so here I am with my issues needing your help. I need to replace my wiring harnesses due to some melted wires i found on the o2 sensors in the transmission harness and the other harness that mounts right next to it in the firewall as it goes down. I think it is the main engine harness that also goes directly behind the engine on the passengers side both going down and over to the drivers side. Each have a big connector that has one bold going thru the center of the connector on them and are mounted on a bracket on the passengers side firewall. Sorry so long, had to lay it out for you guys because I am not sure about what they are each called......My question is: How close do wiring harness numbers have to be so that it can be used from truck to truck or do they have to match exactly? ie : 1L3Z155525BA is what I was told was the trans harness # is and 2L3Z12A581CD is my engine control sensor harness #.......I cannot find either one of these numbers in my web search....now what do I do??? ideas??? help please....thank you for any help you can offer me...

Repair the harnesses
Harnesses are usually obsolete within 4 years of production
I doubt you will ever find a new one and yes, the numbers must be exact
Having replaced a few under warranty I can say never again especially retail
Not cost effective at all
Plan on about 100 hours for the main loom if you have to pull the dash out
Better plan on repairing your harness, I do not think you will find a new one from Ford
You could try some of the obsolete parts houses

Quite doubtful you'll find one new. Maybe in a wrecking yard. I would also repair it. It's a tedious task, but doable.

Oh my gentlemen, That's a task laying under that thing to do the all those wire repairs out at my barn where my truck is. I cannot believe that those harnesses are all that much different? is there not and explanation on the pin out on the main plug some where online? would each pin hole on the connector not have the same component and by just adding more pins for more options such as sunroof, electric windows, electric mirrors...etc??? am I way off on how that a harness would be designed?? like standard equipment would be in set holes and if I got one that had more pins than mine of the same make and model it would just be options mine didn't come with and I would not need those pin holes anyway? .

I'm a bit confused how many harnesses I have. I was only going to replace the 2 that were outside the cab? the 2 that I unplugged over by passengers side fire wall under the hood that had a bolt going thru them to hold them together, not under the dash inside? yikes, that would make this my new parts truck if I gotta go in there to fix it... that's above my pay grade sir....

We could be a little more helpful with some photos, as Jbrew indicated up above. "Harness" is very vague.
