Default Scab or Screw

Im in the market for a new truck and Ive narrowed it down to either a 1999 scab or a 2001 screw lariat. Both have 120000 miles and both are priced about the same. Both trucks are 2wd. Im conflicted about the screw because of the smaller bed. Any opinions?

Also both trucks have the 4.6 V8.

If you tow anything then the scab is your best bet. If not the extra room of the screw is invaluable.

I dont tow anything now but plan on towing. Is the screw rated for less or just handles worse?

Yes but only because it weighs more to begin with

The 4.6 in a screw doesn't work out that well IMO. I mean yeah it'll get it moving but its slow and steady, just like towing would be in a scab. But a screw + 4.6 + towing = super slow.

Do you have kids or are you planning on having any??

I have a screw and it's fantastic for my kids. I have a 12 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. Things would be tight for them in a scab. Plus they are at that age where the further from each other they can sit the better. My screw has tons of room in the back and they aren't on top of each other which is great peace of mind for my wife and I on any trip longer than 10 minutes!

my girlfriend's truck is an 02 supercrew 2wd with almost 200k on the clock. she tows smaller boat trailers, and has pulled a 16ft flatbed trailer with a couple quads and gear for a week. It will do it with ease, but it aint no race car, unloaded its pretty quick for it being stock compared to my jacked up truck on 35s but i think stock vs stock my 5.4 would have her slightly.
