Default Safety recall

I forget who posted the pics of there gas tank falling out but I called my ford deal today and I'm getting new gas tank straps on my 98 f150 due to the recall. That's the only recall on my truck. I asked about the cruise no recall. But thanks a bunch. Probably saved me a bunch of headaches in the future.

Well dang! I had no clue that my truck was under a recall. I just setup an appointment to get my gas tank straps inspected and repaired. I'm glad that I saw this post.

Both 98's way back when had the cruise recall. I had a 5.4 4x and a 4.2 2wd.

The recalls applies to trucks where a lot of salt is used for ice removal. Trucks registered further south/warmer will not have gotten a recall notice. We got them in Kentucky. Also, if the straps are not broken, Ford recommends to install 3/8" braided cable around the tank and frame. However, if they are rusty, or one is broken, both straps are replaced.

I lived in east Texas where I bought my truck. No rust. Even asked down there about the recall and nothing. Moved back to home to northeast ohio 6 yrs later and then bout 1 yr after been home got the recall. Looked at straps myself and no rust or anything. So figured they wouldn't change anything. Took it to ford and the still replaced them.

I'm just stating what the dealer told me. There's no recall on my truck for cruise.

I wonder why they told me my truck wasn't covered under the recall. I live in Canada and I have a Canadian truck. They weren't done before from what I could find out ... weird. I have a 97 scab 4.6 4x4
