Running No Muffler
Anyone running no mufflers? I never thought about this until recently. I just picked up a stupid clean 2005 mustang GT. It has stock exhaust and cats, but no mufflers. It legitimately sounds great. It’s not even loud. Kid you not.
So my truck needs some exhaust work anyways and that got me thinking. My truck still has stock exhaust (the stupid two cats per side into the single pipe) and even with a Borla muffler now, it’s insane quiet. Since I need new pipe work anyways, seriously thinking about just leaving the dang muffler off. It doesn’t do anything anyways. The cats provide all the noise suppression.
Thoughts? And no, it’s not ghetto. There’s no way it’ll be loud or obnoxious.

Yes, it’s a great tone with cutting your muffler off, as you already said the cats (angled fore cats really aren’t cats) it’s enough to not be stupid load with no muffler.
just know In doing this if you don’t dump it you’ll have carbon everywhere under your truck (2003 HD f150)
you may also have a harder time on inspections. Lastly on my ‘03 HD I ended up going back with the muffler and straight pipe for the cats, didn’t sound as good and lost tq but gained HP
food for thought
