I doubt it's the MAF or TPS ...common Ford problems on these trucks are the coils ...did you wash the engine bay recently ?

I may be wrong, but if that was the case, wouldn't it throw a CEL for an o2 sensor if the air/fuel was way off?

sometimes the PCM will catch the problem and throw a code, sometimes it won't .

I have not washed the engine bay at all in the month that I've owned the truck. I wouldn't guess that this engine has been "cleaned" any time recently... that's why I'm bettin' on the TPS..

I owned a '98 a few years ago and the whole rough idle hit after I washed the engine bay one time and it threw the CEL along with it... just not the same situation this time around.
