Default Rocker Panels.......

Damn things are gone again! Noticed some rot sitting on my running board yesterday. Front of the passenger side is shot and front of the driver side is starting to bubble.

They were replaced about 5 years ago and the truck sat in the garage all winter for the first three years after they were done. I'm very good about washing the undercarriage after a snow storm, too.

I have a feeling the shop used chinese replacements.

It was done when my uncle had the truck. Sucks because they did a really nice job. Looked factory, just cheap steel.

I think it will be in the $2,000 range. I'll stop by the shop soon and get a price. My rear driver's door also has a few bubbles down by the bottom. Already got a price of $500 for that.

You can keep all the wax you want on them, but they can still rot from the inside out.

I can tell you guys as a 30 plus year Autobody Technician, owner, fabricator, painter, bla bla ect...you cant fix rust period!! Anyone that say otherwise is full of ****. If Ford ( or any other manufacturer for that matter) cannot design a vehicle to more then two or three year without rust at the factory level with all their billions of dollars and equipment. How do you think a body shop is to repair the problem cause by poor design, poor maintenance and geographical location?
Rust is no different then cancer it can be removed at an outbreak but ultimately you die not long after surgery.

Agreed. 5 years is very good life out of a patch and bondo repair in the salty northeast.
