Default resonators

I have 99 5.4 that installed a si/so super 44 on this past january. its not bad but its not as loud as i had hoped it would be though. everything ive seen says removing the resonator cats will make it sound better. only issue is, i live in VA and this state is huge pain for vehicle mods. so my question is, are they just noise resonators or are they actual catalytic converters?

Have same setup on my truck and love it but also would like it to be a little louder. Was also wondering about the cats or resonates if they were removed

They are actually catalytic converters. Theres really no way to get around them. If your state is big on mods then your going to be checked anytime a cop wants to be a dick. The only way to get around that is to hollow out the cats but this will actually hurt your performance and fuel mileage. You can remove the rear cats and you may or may not get a CEL its hit and miss. Just put a piece of pipe where the cat is supposed to be and youll gain a little sound. Dont take it to an exhaust shop because they wont touch it with wanting to remove a catalytic converter.

Do you have any type of air intake on it? Sometimes that will make it sound better as well

The rears do have some catalytic function and are not just resonators.

I can attest to that. VA laws are very strict....... but didnt stop me from deleting two of mine and putting in high flow cats.
