Default Replacement transmission

I'm sure some of you have read my cracked flywheel thread. Well, this has now turned into a nice chunk broken off my bell housing. I plan on keep this truck for a long time, so I'm not sure which direction I should take. I originally was thinking I'll just have it welded, but then I thought if it's not line up 100% perfectly... it may lead to another broken flexplate. I DO NOT want to pull this transmission again as long as I own the vehicle. Now I'm leaning towards some sort of replacement trans. What are my best options with this?

I had a couple of things in mind...

1) Find a junkyard trans, and have it rebuilt with upgraded internals.
2) Buy a reman trans with a warranty
3) Skip all the BS and buy a built transmission and never have to worry about it again.

What are your thoughts? It's not offroad rig, and I don't do a whole lot of towing. I just want it reliable - to never have to worry about it again.

Monster 4r70w with a updated tranny cooler, and Factory Tech valve body, or pony up for a John Woods 4r70

JUst get yours rebuilt. No need to upgrade internals with your intended use.

If you were around my area, depending on whats messed up internally, he only charges 150 bucks labor plus parts.

He literally rebuilt my 4R100 in 45 min. Been doing it for 40 years.

Nothing is messed up internally. Just the big chunk broken off the bell housing.

Yes, the top passenger side bolt. Probably 4-5" long

I'll go take a pic. Trans mount seems to be fine.

Does the break look fresh (possibly caused by the flex plate granaiding) ?
I say you can live without one mounting bolt and that the opening should pose no problems.

Oily could be right.

If it was me, that's what I would do.

Or could get a new case.

Or do this.
