Replace Cats - install help
hi all, Chris here with my 99 F150 4.6 2wd.
when I bought the truck, the cats had been stolen and it’s been sitting for years. Starts right up but loud as heck, check engine light and drinks and smells like gas.
so, I bought walker cats, the entire y pipe including all 4 cats, 4 new O2 sensors. Pulled what was left of old exhaust up yo the manifolds off, loosely bolted up the drivers side of the y pipe but ran into a problem with the passenger side.
front what I can see, it’s 1/2 inch too short from meeting up with the passenger manifold. Anyone ever install these and have any secrets to make this work? I’m about at my whites end and taking to a shop, which I hate since I do all my own work.
thanks for the help!

Still here just been under the truck.
after dropping the trans crossmember and manipulating (big hammer) the exhaust pipe, I was able to get everything to line up. So cats and o2 sensors are done.
im dropping the gas tank, replacing the tank itself, fuel pump/sending unit, and fuel filler neck all this week. The two Coils, spark plugs and spark plug wires sometime this week as well.
so to the scrap it idea, no can do, truck has a family connection with my brother and I and my son is using it as a learning tool on how to work on cars. Next weekend I’ll show him how to change oil, trans filter and flush coolant. Then I’ll move to the brakes.
