Default 01 headlights

New member here with questions.
I decided my headlights needed some improvements. I bought some new assemblies fromEBay. The versions for the Lightning. After installing, light output was terrible. I've noticed some posts talking about projection lights, what are considered projection? Do I need something other than halogen in the Lightning style lights?
I polished up the original lights, and put in new bulbs, which is better, but the Lightning assemblies look much better. What can I do to get them put out better light?
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure they are aimed correctly? Are the screws set the same? If you want the best light output then you need to look into an hid retrofit.

The Harley/L style headlights I bought have a better pattern and throw than the stock ones. Are you sure the bulbs are seated correctly and fully, and as J mentioned, are they aimed correctly?

HERE is a thread about HID retrofits if you're interested in going this route.

I'm going to try them again with the new bulbs I bought. The new ones are probably better than what came with the housings.
They were adjusted pretty close.
I was curious about whether I had the right kind of bulb. After further research, I do.

as an update, I was able to raise the headlight aim a little more. It's getting closer, next adjustment should do it. High beams work great, low has a pattern to them rather than an even, all over beam. Still better than the originals

Good deal! Glad you were able to get them sorted out.
