Default Removing muffler

If I removed my muffler and put a piece of pipe in to make to for the space, would my truck throw any codes or harm the engine any?

No,you'll only throw codes if you cut the cats and that is an easy fix anyways

you may feel a drop in back pressure in the butt dyno lol. personally though, ide run a muffler on it, didnt mind straight piping to much, till i put a dynomax bullet on the truck, made it deep and mellow, the muffler is straight through too.

I'd have to agree. You can run it without a muffler as i and many others have done but when i installed my duals and glass packs it was what i wanted to do in the beginning.

I 2nd that, Im straight pipped right now, when I finish my exhaust on saturday Id like to have my pipes extends and have mufflers at the ends (glasspacks) for the deep rumble and loudness.

You'll loose torque noticably - just dyno it if your in disbelief or think your the smartest on the block. Most young punks do it for sound. There isn't as much thinking to it that way.

Your better off getting rid of the rear cats. No Codes (DTC's), IF you keep the system tight. You won't loose as much.

The ONLY reason why you loose, is because of the factory tune. You could run open headers and have MORE power and torque everywhere in the power-band. That's IF the tune was dialed into it by a tuner, custom tune.

Yea it's a noticeable loose and NO ONE can get around it (as much as the might believe), -no miracles to be had.

But hey, you want louder, don't give a **** about performance you came to the right place. There's allot those here just like yuh...Enjoy!

If I have a factory tune and want a nice sound without losing performance, what exhaust so I run? Single or dual?

The way I would run it,which is what I'm doing. No cats,3" pipes to a single in single out flowmaster 10. Also have long tube headers. I haven't done it yet,I have all the **** just waiting to put my motor in,but I imagine it'll be pretty loud and sound good

Single or dual out, from the muffler is fine. Just don't run a chambered flow-master. Or you'll have gases dieing in the pipes.

If you like Flowmaster, just use the Laramie straight thru. Yea, if you want duals from the muffler back, that's not a problem.

Muffler:

Borla is number one and has been for sound and performance for some time, there was a shootout a few years back and Both borla's won over the competition. Borla, as far as HP/TQ didn't beat the completion by a large stretch, but both XR/XS were on top. They have their own sort of sound, very deep rumble, great low end, BETTER than factory numbers across the power band and yes, -with the original factory tune. Magnaflows are great as well, a cheaper solution with close to the same results, - just a little behind the Borla. Spintech, Bassani are a few more.

Just keep in mind, you can do anything you want to your exhaust with a custom tune and achieve good results. Except for plugging it up and constipating the system just for sound as those chambered muffler designs do. Use a straight thru for both sound and performance.

What sound best is HP, the more the better!
