Rear Window Surround
Okay so I've done a lot of searching and I've found a lot of answers, but not the specific ones I'm looking for, so here goes.
I'm going to replace my 2002 XLT Rear Slider Window with a Solid Glass replacement, at the same time I need to have the rear window surround replaced as it is broken at the top next to the 3rd brake light. My question is this, where can I get one of these rear surrounds, and I want to paint it to match the new color scheme of my truck, would this be better done with it off the truck or on the truck? And if I can't acquire the piece would it be possible to have the rear window professionally replaced and then paint the new plastic on the truck? If I'm not making sense please let me know. I've seen all the How-To's on the various removals of the rear window so I'm familiar with how to do it. Just looking for opinions and where to get the plastic.

same thing happened to mine but I'm not worried about it, one day I heard a POP!! and it took me 2 weeks when I put in my aftermarket 3rd brake light in to figure out that it was the rear window surround so if I didn't notice then I doubt other people notice
That plastic is really simple to replace, it is around the window but not under the window. All you have to do it remove all the plastic trim around the window inside the cab, drop the back of the headliner, and pull the mat off the back of the cab to uncover the bolts for the plastic and the rear window.
It's about 14 nuts for the window and they're simple to get to, the surround is a little harder to get to the nuts holding it on.
If you live in the DFW area then i'm looking for somebody to install my sliding rear window and then I'll be looking to sell my solid window

FWIW...I believe the regular cab, extended cab, and supercrew, surrounds may be different.
I can't remember where I read it, but may be worth looking into before you buy.
Something about the amount and location of the mounting studs.

Look about 2 posts into this how-to. It shows the difference.
Not sure what goes on with all 3. Just throwing it out there to maybe save somebody from buying the wrong part.
