I've also never seen a proven 4.6 with a 9.75 factory rear end but I've seen arguments started on here over it.

With that being said NO the rearend out of that 04 will not bolt into your 02.

The shock locations are totally different. Bolt pattern is different.

Just a FYI, a rearend out of a 99-03(or 04 Heritage) will bolt in your 02. Doesn't matter if it's a 8.8 or 9.75, there interchangeable. Another FYI is regardless if its 2WD or 4WD the 4.2L and 4.6L had 8.8 rearends and the 5.4L had 9.75.

I've decided to rebuild. Now I know it's in inch pounds but is it possible to convert to ft pounds or am I simple? Does mesuring the threads work for pre load? Yhanks

Rear ends are one thing i dont mess with. Ive seen them fail in a couple thousand miles when set up improper. They are super critical . get a complete third member at junk yard.

I got it apart lastnight, new bearings pressed on pinion and carrier by my local machine shop. I have one wheel bearing race that will not come out. I made a tool to remove the other side... I'm close to cutting it somehow... Any tips or ideas?
Thanks. I have to mention there was only a liter and a half of oil.. And it was 50% water.. L

No I've only had it for 6 months.

Any supercrew owners with a 4.6 and a 8.8?
I own a 2wd super crew with the 4.6 and I have an 8.8 rear end.
