Default rattle noise

i have a 98 f150 triton vb 5.4 l and just recently have been hearing a somewhat loud rattling sound while driving or idling. If you give it gas it stops for a second but then starts right back. Now if i am at a stop light and hold down the gas and break i dont hear it at all. Ive searched the forum and cant seem to find anything. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance for any and all help.

I think we are going to need more specific information. Is it a metal sounding tap or a thud? Where abouts is it located from the drivers seat?

Exhaust quickly comes to mind as to my opinion. If you have had exhaust work done then maybe a hanger has come loose. Or maybe the heat shield from the catalytic converter has come loose.

Check your crossmember, skid plates, running boards, and loose change in the glove box also.

its coming from about middle ways of the dashboard and at the top..it sounds like a metal rattle as well...almost like maybe a fan wobbling..and as a side note when u turn the truck off it does it for a sec or two at the most as well...kinda like it has to stop turning..

Is it coming from INSIDE the truck ONLY? Or outside?

I find it easier to find noises when the truck is parked in a garage....that way the noise echos off of the walls. You can also buy a doctos stephoscope to find the noise.

I now what it is I had the same problem, after I did what I'm about to tell you I never heard the noise again

I can't tell you if its the brake line or the gas line but look on the drivers side, back wheel well and you'll probably see a brake/gas (whichever it is) loose, tape them together at multiple lengths and the should not knock together when your driving or braking

If this helps your welcome, if not I'm sorry Idk what it is
