Default Rapid decrease in fuel milage

Lately my truck has been burning through fuel like it's going out of style. A few weeks age I took it on a long road trip and it ran fine, but lately the back and forth to work has been killing my wallet. Any ideas why? I plugged in my programmer and no codes came up, so I returned it to stock settings. I also plan on cleaning my air filter, changing fuel filter and even an oil change even know it's not quite time. What else should I do or look into. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

What's the year, make, and model; how many miles on the vehicle?

driving habits? city commute? quality of gas? may not be anything wrong with the truck itself.

My truck is a 2003 F150 Supercrew 5.4 with 84,000 miles on it. I've been commuting with it lately, not in stop and go traffic or anything like that. I do tend to have a lead foot at times but most the time I use the cruise control. I usually use just the cheap unleaded gas, and will pump some premium through it about every other fill up.

why do you put premium in it? I was told we were suppose to only put unleaded in our trucks. do you notice a difference when you put premium in it verses unleaded?

I don't think that's true. Idk though. If it wasn't good for our trucks why would they sell tunes for 85 octane to 95 octane? I run premium everytime I fill up. I see a little better mpg.

It's not good to run above 87 Octane unless tuned for it, goes the same way If your tuned for 93 you shouldn't run below 93.

I only run it because it's purer and burns better so it also cleans my system. It's like buying octane booster... I also use a fuel system cleaner about once a month.
