Default Random Rough Idle?

Hey everyone. So this is what's up. When I was going to work, yesterday, I got in a situation, so I did a hard acceleration. THe light in front of me turned red, so of course I had to hit the brakes to stop. As soon as I stopped, the truck began to have a rough idle (it was shaking like a muscle car). I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty cool, BUT I got worried. So I put the truck into neutral, and the RPM's increased a tad, but the truck still had the rough idle. So I shut her off, and fired her back on. Still had the rough idle. Now I got really worried. The light turned green so I did a normal acceleration to the next light, which again was red. As soon as I stopped at light, the rough idle was gone. COMPELTELY gone. So what might it be? Was it just a fluke? Is it something, maybe to do with moisture in my gas line? It can't be an engine mount, cuz while accelerating and stuff there were no weird vibrations, or any weird sounds. And if it was the engine mount, it would still be shaking. It can't be that I blew a spark plug out of the block, cuz no engine light came on. Which also cancels a miss-fire.

BTW: She is a 1997 F-150 with a 5.4. If it means anything, she is superchipped. (man I tell you that chip is like night and day)

Thanks in advance.

No CEL does not.mean no misfire. I had a cop go completely out and nasty misfire with no CEL. Happens often. How old are your plugs? Could be dirty fuel filter, throttle body, a cracked or swollen cop boot letting moisture in and causing a light misfire or dirty MAF, or .... Ya get the picture

Yes I do sir! I will be replacing them spark plugs as soon as winter is over, along with all 8 coils. as for MAF, i doubt it would be that. I took my entire intake apart this summer, and the thing was spotless. Fuel filter might be another one. That too will get done with the spring maintenance =) I think she is good till then. Like I say, she runs jsut perfect again.

I know that a quick spray and cleaning of the mass air flow sensor has helped a lot on my truck....just a thought.

I get that rough idle maybe once every 6 months or so and over that same time span it will rev on its own as well. I have to stand on the brakes to come to a stop. That lasts a day only and it may not happen until the following year. I've never been able to figure it out. No codes at all

Mine was doing the same thing over the summer, and it would lurch real bad during shifting too. Changed the plugs, coils, and the fuel filter(which looked like it had never been changed). She's run like a champ ever since.

Yea as soon as winter is over, and it warms up a bit (and the sun doesn't go down at 5:30) I will get her all done. Thanks everyone. Love Fords.
