Default Radiator hose source

2003, 5.4, Supercab, auto. 124k
Was thinking about changing the upper and lower radiator hoses, just to be proactive. Shopping around and can’t find a source for OEM hoses. All of the online Ford parts outlets show “discontinued”. Anyone have good luck and reliability from another hose manufacturer such as Gates?

Motorcraft=Ford. Are you saying you can't get a motorcraft hose?

More often than not, the original hoses outlast the truck.

Yep, lifetime hoses. The upper/lower hoses on the 98 have 360,000 miles on them lol.

My experience looking at hoses in local store once....was they were thin and flimsy...even gates.

I wouldn't buy anything but motorcraft

Try Tasca if you can't find the Motorcraft. They're good for hard to find new/old stock replacement parts.

Lower without cooler (3 lines not 4) is Motorcraft KM4744 and the upper is KM3051.

If you have the oil cooler, there are 4 lines (not 3) on the lower hose. That hose is discontinued from Ford/Motorcraft. (XL14-8B273-CA). You can still source it from Dayco as 71964.

yes, when I’m searching for actual Motorcraft hoses, the Ford outlets report them as discontinued.

I just verified that Rock Auto has all 3 hoses I listed still available and in stock.

The reason I listed the Dayco hose over others is that when I was at Ford, Dayco was the accepted replacement for some items per Ford. Dayco made some of Ford's hoses in the 90's and I believe they are still Ford's source.
