Default a question that will make you laugh

I have a 98 xlt I'm considering replacing the bed have some rust issues. Now hold the laughter can I replace it with a different bed maybe a step side or a different model year other than 97-03

Any 97-03 should work, not sure about different model year.

97-03 should be plug and play any others I think there will have to be some mods done (mounting points come to mind to start with)

The 04-08 beds might be possible, but there will be some custom fitting I would think. And possibly some rewiring for lights.

xlt is the trim level could be Regular cab, Super cab or super crew cab. Crew is 5 1/2ft bead super cab is 6 1/2 ft bead and regular can have 3 different size beds I think.

You can use a step side that is the same length but you will need the rear bumper to go with it to look right.

I wish I still had a picture but any things do able. I had a 98 come into the shop about a month ago that the owner put a bed off of a 2013 on to it. It looks super goofy but can be done.
