Default Question for the audio gurus

I have an undying hatred for stock head units. Only thing is I have the factory 6-disk changer in the center console and i was wondering if anyone knows how to upgrade the head unit to one that has a front aux jack but still keep the 6-disk functionality?

Thanks guys.

I wouldnt recommend running subs on a stock HU, I heard its possible but i dont know how, and without an amp youre not pushing much power to those subs.

I do not believe that the stock HU has the necessary pre-outs required to properly drive the sub, as in, there are no specific controls for it. You'd have to get a secondary sending unit to control that through an EQ.

I am unsure what the installed radio is for the 01. It may be the JBL or Clarion as they used it for a number of years.

To attach the cd changer to an aftermarket HU you first need to know if the new HU has changer compatibility. If it does, it may have already come with the changer control interface. The audio connection itself is less of a worry as it will most likely be an RCA L/R. Its the actual control through the unit that you need to mind. Ultimately, you should be able to get a wiring harness for an aftermarket HU that will fit your changer.
