Default Push in cupholder question

How do you replace the light bulb for the push in cup holder/ash tray? I noticed mine isn't working and it bugs me haha.

There are 2 clips at the top of the ash tray guides on either side, use a flat head screwdriver to press them down one side at a time to remove the cup holder, theres a wiring harness about 6 inches long running from the back to a harness, twist the socket and it will come out and you can replace the bulb. I had to replace a bad harness on mine for the bulb to work, lemme know if you have questions.

I didn't mess with taking the whole assy out. on my 2000 lariat I just opened the tray followed the wire upto the back of the tray, twisted the connector(not sure which way.but its just like an oldtimey taillight bulb connector-1/4turn then pullout) and the bulb will come out with the connector, pull bulb out and went to auto parts store and bought a new bulb.reversed the process to reassemble.easy-peasy

You can just reach up in behind there and twist the bulb out. I couldn't find any to replace it at the parts store when it blew, so I improved upon the idea. Tucked a couple LED strips under the lip, spliced into the harness and it works beautifully.
