Default Programmer confusion

To start off I have been on google and this forums search but havnt found anything usefull to me. So here is it is.

I just got a job at a local auto parts store and was talking to one of the managers and he said I do not want to get any programmers from them. We carry a few different brands but we have edge products, wich I think most people here use. He didn't realy give me a reason why except the factory tunes suck and gave me a couple different brands to look in to. I researched some and they don't make programmers for my truck and i can't seem to find anything online for custom tunes on the edge. So should I be looking at another place for a different brand or should I look at the edge products at my store? Also if I get the edge where can I get custom tunes at? Php doesn't make tunes any more and I can't find customs tunes at the vmp site.

Edge you are stuck unless you find a converted one.

SCT is your other option for custom tunes.

I think sct is really the only direction to go on our year trucks if custom tunes are in your future.

I ran a Superchips 1715 on my 03 for 70K miles and was completely happy with it. Once i installed the blower i switched to a SCT and every vehicle since has had a SCT. But honestly there is only so much power you can get out of a stock 4.6/5.4L engine with programming so with that being said i would see if you have any local tuners in your town that do SCT. If so, do that. If not, a Superchip 1715 wouldnt be a bad choice either.

SCT and Edge are NOT the same company. SCT just bought Bully Dog, not edge.

For now it's going to stay stock. I just want the programmer for my trans and more power when I want or better fuel economy on the highway. In a few years I may go crazy on my truck and need some serious tuning but we will see later on. I'd rather only buy one that has everything I need the first time. I also want the tach and the other gauges.
