ok i know this is probably a typical question but what is the best tuner for a 4.6 V-8? Automatic transmission is a superchip a descent tuner? i need some answers asap im getting desperate

 

Get an Edge Evolution... with a 4.6 your not going to get alot of power gain period like you would with a 5.4. But the EDGE is a great programmer.. I'd suggest not getting the Superchips..

 

theres nothing wrong with a superchip...i have had em on both my trucks and they work fine if your lookin for a lil extra ummph then any programmer will do...but edge is the most popular and it looks cool with the heads up display but like i said i have a superchip flashpaq and im satisfied with it

 

thanks guys, anybody elses opinion will help, im looking for pros and cons so whatever anyone has to say, say it i dont care, ive heard about the edge programmer falling out of the connector and killing the motor????? has anyone had that problem?

 

the dude i bought my superchip from had a shop "install" the edge and the shop ended up towing it to ford and paying 400 to reflash the ecu so idk...but yet ive never had the edge but im sure theyre all similar

change tire size, gear ratios, shift points etc

idk if the edge is internet updateable but the superchip flashpaq is......

anyone with the edge lmk?

 

Read this thread and then decide...... Just an FYI... When it says EDGE and Gryphon, samething basically just Gryphon holds custom tunes but they quit doing that because they are to busy with newer trucks and diesels.. so it shows 20 total for EDGE/Gryphon. Most popular and liked.

The numbers are actually higher than that but the thread got turned into a poll after alot of people posted.. so if you read through it, EDGE is the most popular..

 

lies i gained about 20hp and 35ft lbs i am at 220hp and 250Ft lbs at the rear wheels with my truck mods in sig (crank ratings 248hp and 289ft lbs)
that about a 30 hp loss and 40ft lbs loss which isn't bad

 

ABOUT? Is that dyno results or going from their websites MAX gains? Plus your truck is a newer year, newer motor..

I've been in a chipped 4.6 and the difference was very minimal.. vs my 5.4 which was very noticeable...

 

i have the edge evo in my 4.6 and it made a noticable diffrence. i was going to get the flash paq but when i got it it wouldnt work on my truck for some dumb reason so i went with the edge. Im glad i did cuz i can monitor things on the screen

why i said about on my gains is that i never dynoed my truck stock so i am just guestimating on my gains over stock
