Default Problems getting '01 Lariat Crew Cab started

Hey guys, newbie here on this forum, posting for a female friend.
I'm a Nissan/Infiniti guy myself (shootout to myg37.com), so forgive my lack of knowledge.

My friend has an '01 Lariat Crew Cab that she's having some trouble with.
The truck has trouble starting, and when it does start, the RPM's bounce. She says it isn't down on power. Could it be something simple like a bad MAF reading that would cause that? Or is this a deeper issue that you Ford guys might know more about?

Any and all advice welcome, thanks for reading everyone. Have a good weekend.

Any more detail on what "trouble starting" means?

If it starts and at idle, the rpms bounce? Could be iac valve.

I love g37s

She says when she turns the key, it sounds normal, just takes longer to start. Then, if you don't add more rev's, it'll die again. And when it will idle "normally", rpm's bounce. IAC = ? Sorry

Awesome dude! G's are amazing cars, really. I beat the absolute **** out of mine and have had 0 problems in 44k miles. http://imgur.com/WqvISm2

If they weren't so expensive, both to buy and fix I'd have one. Or a 35.

Idle air control valve. Symptoms going bad are bouncing at idle and stalling. Drives fairly normal. Its a 60-70 dollar part. On top/back of the throttle body. 2 bolts and a connector, can reuse the gasket if its not torn. You can reach it the easiest by standing at the passenger side fender. Might need a step stool if you're short and a set of small hands.

I'm assuming there are no codes. If there are, check them first.

G always comes before Z! IMO. It must be a door handle thing!

Eh, I don't like Z's that much. They look amazing but the interior quality is absolute garbage compared to Infiniti's. Infiniti could still do better, but Z's are just full of rattles and all of it. If you can get past that, great cars. Otherwise, eh. Over 4 years since new, the only issues with my interior are the typical light scratches on the head unit, and the right rear door has started leaking wind in a bit at highway speed. Totally solid otherwise

Yep, probably the IAC.

Could also be the fuel filter or perhaps the EGR valve is stuck wide open.
