Precise Axle Shaft Identification
The bearings are bad in the rear axle on a 2000 F150, Door Code H9, 8.8 in., 3.55L, tag code S829D (which appears to be some variation of a Dana 60).
The Ford dealer tells me the parts nos. for right and left respectively are YL3Z4234BA and BB. But the parts man cannot tell me the precise length and spline count for each (they are not the same length). Further, according to the Ford parts man, they are obsolete in the Ford catalog and cannot be ordered OEM or under the Motorcraft label.
I have been on Rock Auto and cannot match it all up, and one confusing thing is I believe I have five count 12mm lugs.
I am looking at the Dana parts nos. 20226201 and 202 on Rock and elsewhere trying to determine if they are a precise fit.
Can anyone tell me the length and spline count for each?
Can you tell whether the aforementioned Dana parts are an exact replacement?

The Rock listing for the aforementioned Dana shafts does not include rear end code 829D which is another confounding variable.

The OEM cross reference number in the aforementioned listing does not easily match to the numbers from Ford I stated above. This listing from a Ford dealer does not show that OEM part number matching the axle with code 829D.

I will append another question: if one wants to replace the axle and differential with a complete reman turnkey unit, what brand should he buy and from whom?
The Ford dealer informed me that there is not one available through the dealership from Fred Jones, etc.

Rock Auto is good for some things
Use an axle supplier like Six States or Motion Industries for your axle
Anywhere that sells Spicer or Dana parts
Nobody lists axles by spline count and length unless for a medium or heavy truck
However, I believe Six states would be able to tell you length and spline count
But, they list them by right and left axle
So, find a Dana supplier and take your old axle with you to match up
