Question Power Steering Noise but its Not???

I have a noise that sounds like my power steering acting up but its working just fine. Now when I pop the hood the noise sounds like it coming from the passenger side not the drivers side where the power steering pump is. This has me a little confused?

Mine has always had a noise when turning almost all the way, about 3/4 of the turning ability and from there on, never really worried about it for 30k miles

I am guessing the noise is whine? I would pull the belt off and check your idler and belt tensioner pulleys, most likely one is going bad. Spin them with the belt off, a/c compressor too. If nothing seems noisy spinning them, start the truck with the belt still off. Is the noise still there or gone? There's a start!

Yes it's a wine just like your power steering would make if you turned your steering wheel all the way one way and old it. (close as I can explain)

I think the AC compressor is on the passenger's side. Turn the AC on and off to see what the noise does.

The bearing in the compressor clutch is known to go bad and whine.
