Default Power side mirror switch

So I just got a new to me 2001 F150 Crew cab. I noticed the power side mirrors will not move up or right on either side. This makes me think the switch is the problem. Is my reasoning sound? Thanks, Brick

Yes. And the switch is easy to fix. Remove it from the armrest, and disconnect the wiring harness. You can then take the switch apart. Clean the contacts with some emery cloth and put it back together.

Dorman also makes a replacement. It did not fit the armrest perfectly, and I was unsatisfied. If you're going to replace it, go oem.

Maybe. It looked and worked fine but did not fit into the armrest properly. The shape was slightly off.

I picked up a used switch for my 97 F150 at the scrapyard. Came running home and tried it out. No Good. But I believe I have a wiring problem. I can shake the harness and the mirrirs work. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks guys for the info. Does the switch come right out of the top or do you need to take the pad off and pull it through the pad? Thanks, Brick

Just lift the pad and you can disconnect the wiring and remove the switch.

Default 97 f150 mirror switch

I replaced a broken power mirror switch with an OEM from DirectAuto.com
The switch changed out easily enough however, when the switch is set for the drivers side it moves the mirror side to side but not up&down. Set to the passenger side it moves the mirror up&down but not side to side! Any ideas?

The mirror switch is easy to take out!

Advance Auto has the switch too if anyone needs one... $17.99
