power brake issue.
Personally, I would just bleed the brakes before replacing anything, as soft and spongy is usually just air in the system.
When was the last time you had the brakes bled?
Has it been a slow process of getting worse (expected with time), or just recently get noticeably worse? If this was a recent/quick occurrence, then you might need to examine the master cylinder and check the lines for any damage. I have seen tiny hairline cracks in lines capable of letting air seep in while not losing a drip of brake fluid.

Have you gone through the booster check procedure ? It confirms assist through the check valve.
What you have to keep in about the brake systems on the 150's. The system engineering is there, but they incorporate a lot of junk hardware that doesn't last.
You should obtain a service DVD on e bay. This will help you...with everything. A Ford Service DVD for your model. When looking for one, the more specific to your model the better.
I have gone thru the booster check procedure. It checks good. I know there is air in the system just have to figure out where it is coming from. I read in a ford manual if the check valve is bad it will cause a soft spongy pedal so it is cheap, I will start there and then bleed the brakes.

when I did them previously
