The problem 9 out of 10 times is the DPFE sensor. Please read this link before running out and buying one http://free-auto-repair-advice.blogs...gr-system.html

If you do replace the DPFE please get one from Ford.

If the DPFE sensor does not fix it, remove the upper "intake" and clean the EGR passages.

Being a 4.6 I would clean the EGR ports in the intake elbow as NGM suggested along with the DPFE sensor.

I just tried to view your link but it said it was removed. I have this same 401 code now and was curious as to how to fix the issue, is it possible for you to post the link again? Thanks for any help you can offer. Paul

Sorry for the double post!!! Tried to delete this one but couldn't figure out how to.
