Default Please help with shifting

I've got a 1999 f150 4.6l auto, my transmission won't go into overdrive until I reach 80kph, it shifts fine throughout all the gears and even shifts into OD fine but just late. I'm used to all my other vehicles going into OD about 55-60kph. This is causing me to use allot more gas since most of my driving is about 65-70kph. Please can someone help.

Actually it shifts about 87 kph. If this is normal is there a way to adjust it to shift sooner?? It would be nice to be able to cruise around town at something lower the 2200-2500 rpm. I won't lie, I was hoping something simple was at fault lol

In cold weather, the truck is supposed to upshift to OD at 45mph/72kph. To shift 10 mph or so higher to OD is probably the OD solenoid not engaging at the correct parameters.. Sounds like it's time to service the transmission, and inspect the solenoid/wiring etc.

My truck won't shift into OD at 45 mph/72kph unless I have very little pressure on the gas pedal - (to OP) does it behave differently with varying throttle position?

Same here, OD 45mph at light acceleration. Takes a little longer in sub zero temps before normal operating temps are achieved, IF that even happens. Depends how cold it is lol.

Do you have stock tires on the truck and the factory gearing?
