Default Plastic Intake Manifold Replacements??

I did the "Gots Mod" tonight and noticed I have a plastic intake manifold. Is this the case on all these 5.4L motors, or only certain years? I would think an aluminum intake would be better than a plastic one. Anybody done this swap before? Thanks.

So the early model intakes will swap right in then? I might have to go to the junkyard and see what I can find. That might be a fun project. At least then I can see about port matching the intake manifold and the heads.

When you have the intake manifold out it might be a good time to look at replacing the spark plugs.

What about replacing the plastic manifold with a super charger?

Just make sure the intake comes off PI heads, could be a late build 98 titled as a 99 so be careful.

How can you tell if they are "PI" heads? I'm unfamiliar with this term.

hey guys new to this so bare with me.
i just installed a CAI on my 07 fx4. works great but i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a plastic cover dress it up a bit. i saw one that went over the CAI and plastic intake but i cannot remember where i saw it. it looked like it fit on the long bolts i took out to remove the bulky intake system when i switched over to CAI. any advice would be much appreciated.
i actually found a pic of what i want.

^ We'd tell him to take it off or get a custom tune as he's probably running lean and that unit is great for pulling in warm air.
