Hi All: I have a 97 f150 ex cab with 3rd door I want to replace the bed with a newer aluminum bed has anyone done this
I’m wondering which year and box I should use I believe my bed is 6.5’ I have done other mods like 2008 4.2l Engine & 2004 Trans. 17” Tres and Mags dual s.s. Exhaust Thanks for your help.

 

Biggest thing is no aluminum bed will look right with the body lines. It will stick out like a sore thumb.

Now if you go with a 97/03 flareside bed, the outer panels are fiberglass.
