Question Cruise control doesn't work

I just got my 2002 F-150 FX4 5.4 a couple of weeks ago, and I have found that the cruise control doesn't work. I push the button to set it and nothing happens. Looking around, I found that there appear to be a couple of things missing from the power distribution panel under the hood. Most of the empty slots have no connectors, but these two do.

a) what, if anything, is supposed to go in these positions?
b) if these aren't related to the cruise problem, any ideas of what's next to try? I have the FSM, but without knowing what they call it, it's hard to find anything about it.

Thanks,
DocT

Go to the link in my sig and download the manual for your truck it will have that info. With out the numbers for them slots they appear to be trailer brake and trailer lights.

Right your manual will tell exactly what that empty hole is for. Do you have the CC recall harness installed, (?) if so, check the fuse in the harness.

Thanks! I downloaded the OM and maintenance guide. Now to go through the OM again The truck has its original paperwork, but reading through 318 pages looking for something I didn't yet know I needed, I may have missed that part.

CC = cruise control. It looks like the one in this pic. It is an inline harness that goes between the brake switch and the original harness.

OK, I found one. Tomorrow I'll go out and see if there's one anywhere near my m/c before I order it.

Thanks!

The fuse info is under road side emergence in the OM.

I ordered one of these kits on eBay, and today I installed it. There's a fuse holder in the wiring harness that goes to the M/C switch, and the 2A fuse in it was blown. It's the old style blade fuse, larger than the fuses in the power boxes. AutoZone sent me to our friendly local Ford dealer because they couldn't find one in their computer or lurking in the back. The dealer's parts guys had never seen one like it and couldn't find any evidence of it in their system, but one of the techs was standing nearby and he had a trick to share. The blade spacing of the old style fuse is close enough to the current mini-blade style that a 2A mini fit in the OEM harness!
The CC switch was ugly! It had been leaking brake fluid through its top and making a mess! I poured brake fluid out of the switch terminals when I turned it over. Used some Brake-Kleen on the wiring harness before I plugged in the new piece.
I had found some instructions, probably on the auction site, that said that you have to bleed the brakes after you put this switch in, but I had a trick, too! The switch is installed so that the open end is facing down. If there's any air in the switch, you can bleed a gallon and it won't force that bubble in the switch down into the brake lines, so I took a small syringe, filled it with brake fluid and injected it into the switch. I used a small piece of wire to tamp the fluid down and bring the air bubble to the surface, then gave it another shot of fluid - repeat as needed until there are no more air bubbles. When I pulled the old switch out, the fluid welled up out of the M/C because the fluid reservoir is higher than the switch hole. (This is what I was hoping for!!) I quickly flipped the switch over and screwed it in, and it must have worked because the brakes are firmer now and have more authority than they had before, probably because the old switch was limiting brake pressure by bleeding fluid.
Between the 2A fuse, the new harness and the new switch, the CC works perfectly now! Thanks all for your help!!

Do you have a part number for the harness or a picture of where it is located. I have intermittent cruise. I've replaced the switches in the steering wheel, and I'm about ready to lose what's left of my mind.
