I have a 98 5.4 f 150. My truck seems to hesitate during acceleration. It happens sometimes at idle but almost always when accelerating. Almost as if a mis fire is happening or an EGR problem. EGR valve and sensor are brand new though. Also no check engine light to pinpoint the problem. And I'm noticing my mpg go way down. Any suggestions?

 

Possibly a bad ignition coil.

 

Clean the MAF and IAC.

 

I have replaced the coil on first cylinder but the engine light came on right away.
