I have a 2000 5.4L triton V8 and I'm looking for ideas on performance upgrades. I currently have a K&N cold air intake with true dual exhaust no CAT. What else? Also what's a good tuner for my truck links and recommendations would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Don't waste your time on all the piddly little "performance" upgrades like your K&N filter. What are you looking to gain? In what situation does your truck not perform to your expectations? Top end speed, pulling power, MPG?

Throw on/pay someone to install a supercharger, get your differentials re-geared and be done with it. It will actually give you a noticeable gain and should give you all the extra performance you need. If it doesn't, you're in the wrong style of truck or you have way too much money to blow.

Also, if you get rid of the purple tint you will gain 10hp, guaranteed.

performance? super charger is easy, turbo is more complicated and needs a lot of work but would net you a lot of power. upgrade the entire engine to forged internals: pistons, rods, crank, good high performance cams, performance heads, port n polish block. e-fans will free up some hp, bigger trans cooler will help keep temps down, built trans would do wonders but costs a lot, gears would help getting more power to the ground, also a locker in the rear too.

custom tunes would wake it up and give it a good amount of gain...but not enough to make it a race truck.

Haha yeah the purple tint looks like crap it's going this week. I'm looking to get slightly better mpgs and more towing/ get up and go. It performs fine once it's up to 40 or higher but anything below its sluggish. I also replaced the transmission to a higher end one. My budget is around $1500 - $2000. Not looking for a race truck but more of a beastly off road style
