Well they have...just not in the US. You can actually get a ranger with a diesel in europe. An Indian company called Mahindra (yes the tractor company) actually has a half ton pickup and SUV with only diesel options has been wanting to release in the US but keeps having to put it off due to the ever increasing EPA BS on diesels. Like I said, you used to be able to get F150's in South America with Cummins 4BT's in them (why the M5R2 bolts right up to B series engines). And for some reason when one company puts off it's half ton diesel production, the other two seem to follow. Kinda like how Ford used to make a V6 P-Stroke (back in the 7.3 days) that they never put in the trucks. There have been more than enough opportunities, no one has done it yet though.

The gears would be a great mod if you want to tow some stuff

You might see some HP from the tuner, but nothing too great

there's a lot of guys on here and on v6f150.com that have custom tuned SCT's for their F150's and they say that it really wakes up the ol' 4.2.
