Performance programmers
I have a 2002 xlt 5.4 4x4 and I'm looking for the chip or programmer that's going to give me the most power. I've done some research and have read some older posts on here, most have said the Edge evo, SCT Xcal , or diablo. These posts are a little dated and no one has really posted any follow ups on how they have performed. Just wondering if any one has any good recommendations and what their HP and MPG gains look like. Thanks

SCT (whatever model you want). MPT and 5 Star are 2 of the better known tuner companies, but there are others.
None will give you any MPG gains that make a difference.
None will give you any real power improvements.
There are improvements in shifting that are noticeable.

I have the sctx4 and I have had others on different trucks in the past.
you won't gain any real power period with the factory can tunes on a stock truck. You will gain drivability with better shifting, less grear hunti. You might even notice a few miles more per fuel up if you don't change your driving habits, but not much.
On the other hand If you get the SCT and have legitimate mods like a cat back exhaust with rear cat delete, larger throttle body, bigger injectors, real cold air kit, trick flow heads and so on you will get gains from a written for you tune.
In closing power, not likely. Better drivability, absolutely
