Default Performance Chip?

I figured this was the crowd to ask when it came to some performance upgrades for my truck. I'd like to have as many opinions as possible so feel free to give some advise.

I have a 1999 F150 with the 5.4L auto and was wanting to bump up the horsepower and torque a little. Nothing extreme, but would like to do it because it would be more fun to drive(hard to imagine now!) but also I have heard that it can increase fuel mileage a little. Prob not much, but not worried about the mileage part that is.

In my quest for researching a potential programmer, or module, I just cant figure out which one to buy. Beings that everyone here is ford truck crazy like me, and alot of you have more knowledge in this department than me, I figured I would ask you guys. So, Which is the best programmer out there for an F150 that is reasonably priced? Which ones have people had problems with and what programmers or modules do you reccommend? Which ones have you used on your truck, or anything else you might own?

There is one that i just ran acrossed today and it is called GFORCE. But I have never heard of them, and maybe one of you do. They seem credible, but I just dont want to make a mistake and f*** my computer and or truck up.

All input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I got checking SCT and vmp tuning out and seem like they are serious about their products. Thanks for suggesting them, I didnt even know they existed! I will definetly order off of vmp's website soon.

I just see some of the other products that are advertised and some you cant even believe. Thats why I asked, because its nothing like making a $400 purchase and it letting you down.

I know there are alot of fake ones out there, or ones that promise a boat load of power and turns out to be a 3 hp gain, if any at all. I know there has to be some out there that work, its just finding out which ones.
A guy I work with had his mustang tuned up to a little over 300 hp, from 240 hp stock. But I dont know what he used, and they just fired him so I doubt I'll ever know.
