Default Paint code mystery

May I ask a question here?
I recently bought a 2002 F150 XLT Flareside. It is yellow. I have read that yellow was not offered for F150's in 2002.
The paint code on the Certification Label is not clear, as the label was damaged, but seems to start with a W. I have been
all over the truck and if it is a color change, it was completely disassembled. Perhaps it was special ordered? My guess is
that it's code BZ, Chrome Yellow, which was available in 2002 on Escapes and Rangers.
I will try to post some pics. Has anyone seen a yellow one before?

If anyone knows about special ordering a color, or just an opinion if it indeed was painted
from the factory this color, please jump in, TIA for any help.

Yellow was available for the 02 F150 Boss and SVT. Might of been special order like you mentioned. There's quite a few out there.

Check the VIN plate on the dash, pretty sure color code is there as well.

Your code is BZ. It is called chrome yellow. It was used in several of the 02 models. It's listed in my Ford parts book.

JBrew, thanks for the tip on the Boss. I had not heard of it.
Look what I just found. Looks like someone got a screamin' deal at Kissimmee. And the Cert. label shows the paint code W6695. Probably what mine says, if you could read it. Now I can go to the
paint store and watch them scratch their heads, lol. I thought all paint codes were just 2 characters. Live and learn.

$13,750 for an immaculate truck...

Paint code W6695, Axle H9

Is my axle also H9, or 19? I may never know.

No problem, nice! Your truck looks like it's great shape as well!

Looks like NCDOT color but I’ve never seen a XLT Flareside DOT truck.

The tag on the differential cover will give you the axle info.

When you go into the data base for the year and model, BZ is the correct color for your truck. The W6695 from that Boss is a special paint color (noted by the Wxxxx code)
