Default p0401

I need help! I just bought a 2001 ford f150 for my youngest son to get to work, about 3 hr after buying it the engine light came on...code p0401, then about 2 hr later code p0306. I cant have the truck inspected with the cel light on and the dealer I bought it from is not making good. I need to get the light out asap for inspection. we cleaned the egr and throttle body. changing the DPFE sensor today.

Did you clean the aluminum intake elbow where the EGR attaches?

Ah, didn't see any info on your engine. When replacing the DPFE buy Motorcraft or you'll be buying another before long.

I can order one from ford and I'm ok with replacing it again as long as the light stays off until monday to get it inspected...after that I have all year to figure it out. Do you think the dpfe will fix the code?

I expect that will fix it and it will last a while, just not as long as the Ford/Motorcraft. Good prices can be had on eBay for Ford/Motorcraft .

Buy a code scanner instead. Pull into the lot at the inspection place and use the scanner to clear all codes. It's skeevy but I know what it's like to need to fudge the inspection to continue driving while you work on it.

Can't all systoms have to be complete not incomplete or pending. Have to drive about 100 miles to complete all the cycles after a clear and the light comes back on by then
