Default Overhead console not working

2002 Lariat with the overhead console with temp/compass etc, the display does not light up, anyone know if there is a common issue with this before I disassemble to find out whats going on? The fuses are all good and all other components work.

I have a 2002 f150 with overhead console, the display did not work so I checked out the 501 resisters, they looked good to me. But I hit it with new solder anyway, I plugged it in and presto, it worked. Thanks to all

Mine was also out, and when I hit it with solder it lit right back up again. Although the temp reads -40 all the time. Any thoughts?

This worked for me! Works like a charm now! You can't have the soldering gun too hot tho.

Check the 555timer chip within the unit. That is what recieves the *temp* and uses thersholds vs VCC input to finally output an LED version of the temp.

Looks like a mini microchip with 8-16 legs on it
