98 Scab 4wd 4.6.
My overdrive button seems to be stuck. Can I pull the **** off of the shift lever, to try and unstick it and if so, how does it come off? I've tried twisting it and it doesn't budge.
Forum search only yielded threads about the wire harness chafing issue. Anyone else had this problem?

The little cap on the end of the shifter should just pry off. Be gentle with the old plastic though. I accidentally ripped mine off shifting into drive one day and now it falls off from time to time

 

Dorman makes a nice replacement for like 45.00. Easy to install. Looks good. I had alot of front to back play so I just replaced.

 

Found a kit on Rock Auto for 8 bucks plus 3 shipping...
