check your wires you may have a short somewhere. Check your fuses too. I cant remember what fuse it is, but theres one for the tranny. Its trying to tell you something. Take it somewhere that can read tranny codes. I wouldnt drive it too long like that. Could mean your tranny is on the fritz.

Had this problem with my 99 7.3. I had to drive around for a good 20 min for it to stop and then i could use cruise control too. Does your cruise control work when its flashing? Anyway, shortly after, my speedo wouldnt kick in until 20 mph, then 30, then 50, then it stopped working all together. (On a plus side, we put a good 50,000 miles on it that it didnt read) FInally, I went and replaced the sensor on the rear differential ($23, did it my self in 10 min) and all is well again. Speedo, cruise, no flashing over drive. It even got rid of the ABS light that stayed on.

Just a thought.

On another side note, my gf rice burner started flashing OD and her tranny went out shortly there after. So it could go either way. I would def get it checked though.

Had the same problem with my 03 5.4 after a good early snow storm. Just ended up being a wiring harness that had gotten ripped off.

Is your abs light on? I think when the OD light flashes, the trucks trying to tell you something. The sensor is on the drivers side of the rear diff. towards the top.

Yeah, you might start with the sensor i talked about, it was only like 23 bucks. And took about 10 min to replace. You really cant miss it once your under there, its right on top of the diff on the front side. If you are going to do this, when you go to the dealer, they can show you a pic of where its at when they pull up the schematic for the part #
