Default Optima Batteries?

I'm in the market for a new battery as mine is going on 5 years old now and here in this part of Arizona where we have hot dry summers batteries last on average of 2-3 years, guess I'm lucky. Anyhoot, I have been told by a few people to get the Optima battery. A quick google search and I already see that they are made in Mexico now but were once made in the USA, that's a bummer. Never had one so I was wondering if anyone could give me the lowdown on them or suggest a battery brand. Thanks!

I've had great luck with the Yellow tops and lousy luck with the Red top ones. I have a Yellow and a Blue in my Motorhome and Interstate's in my F150s and Mustang.

I ran Optima batteries in my 2004 until Costco quit selling them. They sell Interstate now and that is what is being run in the other 2 (Toyotas). When the factory battery dies in my 2016 it will likely be replaced with Interstate as well unless there is another place that sells them in the Phoenix or Prescott Valley areas.

The batteries we sell at our Toyota dealership are interstate batteries. Awesome price too, just
99.00. I know Toyota in this region contracts thur interstate to supply all their batteries. Not sure nationwide. Great warranty too.

Believe it or not, I've always found that the dealer has best pricing on batteries. I agree with Knight Rider, the Motorcraft batteries are tough to beat. They also have a 36 month free replacement warranty, and 100 month pro-rated.

I do have an Interstate in my truck right now, which came from Costco. It has a 42 month free replacement, and that's the entire warranty.

Optima are great if you are running a bunch of stuff and doing a lot of off roading.
I ran one in my Jeep, but I also was doing a LOT of off roading at the time and had 2 winches, an air compressor and tank big enough to run air tools, rock lights and several high and back lights. I got the Optima after I laid the Jeep on its side and by the time we got it righted my old battery had no fluid in it. If you're just using it for starting and normal use Interstate or the like are will do ya up just fine

All the batts posted are Johnson Control Junkers. Motorcraft USE TO BE good, one of the best, but that ended long ago..long long ago. Optima....won't even go into it. Interstates are the best of the crap battery line. Same bat at a cheaper price

If you are truly seeking a great batt, look no further than the Odyssey or the Die Hard Plat (if odyssey is still supplying sears with them). They last like the old motorcraft batt use to. 9 or 10 years.

Anyway, for today it's the Odyssey's, the rest are pretty much average garbage.

My Odyssey went in 2010. A great battery for sure, always have been, -

Have fun finding a Sears to replace it at in a few years.

Just an FYI, wikipedia says Die Hards are made by JC as well.... UNLESS it's a Platinum, then it's an Enersys (Odyssey).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DieHard_(brand)

But, in all honesty, I've had pretty good luck with the JC batteries. The one in my Expy (Motorcraft) says 2009 on it, and the one in my 'Yota (Kirkland) says 2011.
