I flip for a living and sometimes if it's looks to good to be true it probably is. Then again I did say sometimes. I've come across some deals you wouldn't even imagine lol. I've only purchased one vehicle through Offer Up only because that site in itself has some very scketchy people. Bring one or two people with you and as others have mentioned you need to invest that little bit of $$ beforehand to potentially save thousands!
Thanks for all the feedback, I guess he couldn't wait. Hopefully I will be coming across deals in the near future, has anybody on here gotten a dealer's license online?
If he didn't have buyers and all of a sudden disappears that is suspicious in and of itself. Though it may be possible he's busy I think you are better off looking some more. Get the VIN number first and run the checks on it. Also invest in a code reader as well as they are handy to have regardless of buying a vehicle.
We've had a lot of scammers here locally. Beware. People have been given falsified titles, fake titles, stolen vehicles where the seller "couldn't find the title", and then the buyer is left with their pants down. ALWAYS do the transaction through a bank, IMO. They will search the VIN, etc. At lease my credit union does.
For my area that truck is fairly expensive. I bought this truck for $3,200, tires and wheels were brand new and by themselves were about $2k.
It was a '99 F-350 Lariat with 125k? miles. I don't remember exactly, I think it's still in the pics from the thread in my sig. I bought it to lower back to stock height and make my new work truck since my old '97 F-150 got overloaded a lot. Ended up costing too much, so I fixed the brake line and I put in another $700 (was in $3,900 total), sold the wheels and tires for a set of almost new Super swampers plus $1,000 on top from him, then sold the truck like that for like $3,700.
That truck might be a decent deal, but look at what all is wrong with it and see how much it will cost to fix it. Common problems with the 6.8's are the spark plugs blowing out as well as snapped manifold studs. They are known to start their bad problems around 150-200k miles.
So I was looking on craigslist and their goes the truck listed for 2500, lol. I went by and checked it out, drove it, and left. Came back a second time with my mechanic and he made me feel alot better about getting it. The pics make the truck look in way better shape than it is. Has a bunch of little dents and dings all over the truck(I've done a little bit of paintless dent repair and I think I can get at least 80-90% of them back out). Steering wheel is a little loose(I can wiggle it), but doesn't shake while driving. It needs all four tires replaced soon(found a pretty good looking set of Goodyears for 150, he was asking 200). Drives pretty well(seafoamed it and now it sounds, idles and accelerate's better). Little late, but I am going to get a reader for future purchases. Plan on painting it back new and putting it back up 4500-5000, really appreciate everyone's feedback
Forgot to put I bought it for 2400
