Oil in sparkplug well - Also something else in sparkplug well
Hi All,
Have an 1999 f150 with the 5.4 windsor, about 371,000km (230,000) and while changing the plugs, I found this stuck in one of the sparkplug wells. Kinda felt like it was a gaskety material of some kind. Also worth mentioning that the threads of the plug were covered in oil as well.
Truck has been misfiring or hesitating on acceleration above 35 mph, most noticeable when going uphill. Checked a few other threads about oil in the sparkplug wells, I've read its either the valve cover gasket leaking or its completely normal and to not worry about it. The length of the coil boots were pretty clean, but up at the top of the coil was caked in oil.
Thoughts? I'm really thinking that this piece of whatever that was in the well fell in while the PO was doing their plugs. Would like to have some ideas about the oil in the plugs.
Thanks!

Probably using a phone?
I hate the "related thread" thing.... I've replied to the wrong thread before because of that crap.

Looks like a piece of EGR pipe shield, heat jacket material/cloth. It shreds up like that, and falls apart.
