Default oil pressure

I have a 97 f150 with the 4.2 Essex motor. The oil pressure gauge is awfully close to the H. I'm wondering how close to the H is too high of oil pressure since it does not actually show me a number.

Any help here would be great...

Could be the sending unit. The only way to find out is to put a manual oil pressure testing guage on your engine. If oil pressure is too high, it blows seals and gaskets and maybe the filter. The guage on the F150 is not real, it is more like a light that looks like a guage, (oil pressure or no oil pressure H-L) so the only way to be sure is to hook up a real pressure guage to the engine. My guess is defective sender which is easily replaced and not too expensive at all.
