oil in coolant
Hi,have a 1998 4.6 liter with oil in coolant not sure yet where its coming from also miss-fire on cylinder 4 has anyone had similar problem,I have flushed engine and radiator,I wonder if oil cooling line in rad is leaking, but also suspect intake or head gaskets, thanks
What color is the oil? Red is tranny fluid...pray that it's red!!Misfire on #4? If EDIS-8 ignition, probably a plug wire.

replace passenger side head gasket, and if not already, change your sparkplugs. Evidently the timing chain is good for 300K, so you do not need to replace. I would find a good mechanic that knows the ins and outs of these engines. It is just about impossible to do in your garage and without a lift. Good old Ford.
well I did get the intake off and the seal around one port looks defective I learned that the lines going in to the rad are transmission fluid and the tranny is fine the coolant smelled like oil but it is not seperating like i would expect Im hoping I can get by just replacing the intake gaskets. Not working tomorrow and my son is coming to helpafter morning classes, the plugs are easy to change when the manifold is off! I dont know if I would have bought this rig if I would have realized they made it that diff to service, but Ive owwned it since new.
Hopefully its the intake gasket, if its the head gasket though look into this product... http://www.barsproducts.com/1100.htm I have never tried myself nor have any friends that have used it but I remembered it from an episode of "Truck U" just a suggestion since now a days not to many of us have extra money laying around for repairs.

Hey the Bar product WORKS. I used it on my son's 96 Oldsmobile v-6 front drive. Head gasket was losing water. Added the Bars repair or fix I can not remember. It is the one that can be added without flushing all anti freeze, the one that mixes well with anti freeze. It is about $30.00. There is also a product called Blue Devil behind the counter for Mechanics in the biz for $60.00.
